Hoist is built and supported by one person — me. Email is the fastest way to reach me, and I read every message.

Getting help

Email firma@markussolberg.com with:

  • The version of Hoist you are running
  • Your iPhone and Apple Watch model, and their iOS / watchOS versions
  • What you expected to happen, and what happened instead
  • A screenshot or screen recording, if the problem is visual

I usually reply within a few days, and nothing goes unanswered.

Frequently asked

My photo does not appear on the Apple Watch

That is deliberate. The watch keeps its own copy of your library, and a single photograph would use more than the entire transfer budget on its own. The item still travels, so the watch can tell you the photo is on your iPhone instead of pretending it is not there.

Why does the flag not wave on my watch?

Metal is not available in the watchOS SDK, so the flag stands still on the wrist. On an always-on display that is the better answer anyway.

The strobe is behind a warning I cannot skip

Flashing light can trigger seizures in people with photosensitive epilepsy. The warning appears once, the rate is capped, and neither is configurable.

Can I make my own flag?

Yes. The designer covers horizontal and vertical bands and a Nordic cross offset toward the hoist. Flags you design appear in the picker interleaved with the built-in ones, sorted by name, with nothing marking them out — whoever is choosing should not have to know which is which.

How do I change how much the flag moves?

One app-wide setting: Still, Calm, Normal or Strong.

Reporting a bug

The details above are enough to get started. If you can reproduce the problem reliably, the exact steps you take are the single most useful thing you can send me.

Feature requests

Same address. I keep a list, and it genuinely informs what I build next. I make no promises about what ships or when.
