Privacy Policy

Last updated 4 September 2026

Hoist does not collect anything. There is no account to create, no server to sign in to, and no analytics. Nothing you do in the app leaves your device.

Information collected

None. Hoist has no backend and makes no network requests of its own.

What stays on your device

Everything the app holds is stored locally on your iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch, and is removed when you delete the app:

  • Flags you design — the colours and layout you chose
  • Photos you select — Hoist reads the photographs you pick from your photo library so it can display them. It does not scan your library, upload anything, or keep a copy anywhere but on your own device.
  • Text and QR codes you enter — QR codes are generated on the device
  • Occasions — the dates, time windows and items you set up
  • Settings — such as wind strength

Apple Watch

Your library is mirrored from your iPhone to your Apple Watch over WatchConnectivity, which is a direct link between your own two devices. It does not pass through me or any third party.

Notifications

Occasion reminders are scheduled locally by your device. No push server is involved, and no one is told when a notification fires.

Sharing

Nothing is shared, because nothing is collected. There are no analytics SDKs, no advertising SDKs, no crash reporting services and no third-party services of any kind in Hoist.

Children

Hoist is not directed at children, and since it collects no data it holds no information about anyone regardless of age.

Your rights

The GDPR gives you the right to access, correct and delete personal data held about you. I hold none, so there is nothing to request — but if you have a question about this, write to me.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it.
